Mondlicht Studios had the incredible opportunity to collaborate with BMW and Epic Games on an exciting project: the creation of a stunning cinematic for the Game Developers Conference (GDC) using the cutting-edge Unreal Engine 5.
Our main objective was to push the boundaries of Unreal Engine 5 and explore the capabilities of Substrate, a revolutionary material authoring system. Substrate provided us with a versatile and modular framework, allowing for a wide range of surface appearances and a more extensive parameter space.
As passionate automotive enthusiasts, we couldn't resist showcasing the power of Substrate by focusing on the changing car paint. The video revolves around the transformation of materials.

"Creativity is our driving force behind every stroke of the brush, every line of code and every decision made. It is what sets us apart and allows us to craft unique and captivating experiences."
We wanted to create a beautiful piece, experimenting with visuals. The frosted glass walls, BMW's iconic colors, and the graffiti sphere were all made possible by Substrate in UE.

"The beauty of embracing new technology lies in its transformative power. It enables us to reimagine what is possible, to craft breathtaking worlds and to evoke emotions."
The project's success owes much to the incredible talent of our team, and we are immensely proud of their efforts. Thanks to you, we have pushed the boundaries of visual storytelling.
As we look to the future, we are fueled by the belief that there are no limits to what we can achieve when artistry and cutting-edge technology converge.

Together, we will continue to challenge conventions, break barriers, and pioneer new frontiers in the realm of digital art.
