That's Not What You Think
Mondlicht team and Ilya Nodia continue the exploration of endless possibilities of Unreal Engine 5. This time we decided to have fun and produce a sci-fi video with a fun plot and a bit of humor.
Under the jokes and sci-fi clichés, there is an exploration of the software and a fantastic collection of highly detailed assets created by Big Medium Small.
I Hate Their Stupid Security
Industrial Zone by Big Medium Small became our main source of inspiration – unique characters, hero buildings and hundreds of additional assets just could not remain untouched by Mondlicht.
Looking through the assets, Ilya Nodia couldn't stop thinking about creating a dynamic story with a sci-fi touch. Why? Because who doesn't like sci-fi?
Plunging into the script, we went from the idea of confrontation, which unites almost all films of this genre (fighting against the system is always fun!).
That's how we came to the creation of our hero - charismatic and tired of life, doing his job and not letting himself be offended, even-tempered and ready to make a revolution at any moment.
One of the objectives of the video was the test of time - we wanted to create an almost two-minute video with a story, characters and animation in two weeks. And we succeeded!
Barbaric Dirty Bastards
In the time of fast results and high efficiency, we often forget to appreciate what our work is giving to us —
the ability to enjoy the work itself, looking how unshaped material is growing into a true masterpiece.
One can focus only on the result, but it's way more fulfilling to observe the creation process's
beauty as if it was a play of liquid metal
.
In addition to the characters and the story, the world in which these characters live and interact plays a significant role in the video.
At the same time, we tried not to complicate the locations but also to add enough details so that the viewer could feel like a guest of Iron City.
We are excited about the evolution of visual content creation software and look forward to testing even more tools in our pipeline.
A small teaser: Unreal Engine is firmly entrenched in our studio, so we can confidently say that more incredible stories from Mondlicht await you soon.
Do Our Work So Well
We are incredibly grateful to Big Medium Small for their assets, to Tatiana Lavrova for the help with the script, Dmitriy Ramanovich for the amazing music and Ilya Goryachevsky for the design of the Behance project.
We hope this project will be one more piece of evidence that incredible work is usually made at the intersection of skills only collaboration can provide.
