New automotive series was inspired of backplates created by CTC studio. Sunny California pushed us to reimagine the perception of American classic and create a series of CG images with Mustang Mach-E.
New Automotive CG Series
In the series we wanted to combine a full CG car with backplates created by CTC Studio and our dear friend Dmitry Bocharov. We decided not to limit ourselves with one car paint and made a story about three vehicles on the roads of California.
We created 17 unique images for the series.
One car, many angels
For any automotive images, no matter if CG or photography, it's vital to show a car from every angle, emphasize the design and character of the vehicle.
Change the color and you'll get a car with a different character. To show how Mach-E looks like with different car paints, we chose three options: red, white and blue.
Working on 3D part
First, we had to adjust the model and work on angels. To make the final selection, we worked shoulder-by-shoulder with Dmitry - art-director and experienced automotive photographer.
When the angels were approved, we created custom car paint materials inspired by brand colors, rendered the images and started working on integration and atmosphere in Photoshop.
Lifestyle CG
We had a lot of fun working on the series. As CG artists we love experimenting not only with tools but with the creative ideas too. This time we made a lifestyle series, showing that CG is great both for a very creative automotive projects and lifestyle series.
It was very important for us to convey the atmosphere of sunny and relaxed mood of California, so we invested more time on post to push color-correction and add details to the images.
